A limerick by Mom and Dad
There was once a girl named Rina
Who decided to follow her dream-a
To Guatemala she went
She followed her bent
To speak Spanish and eat Quesadilla
She worked with a company of trekkers
Who took tourists and made them backpackers
Up mountains they hiked
With vistas they liked
Among them were no complainers
However one day on a trip
The whole group let it rip
They had had quite enough
They really were not so tough
Back to town on a bus they would slip
This left the co-leaders alone
Abandoned without even a phone
So what did they do?
This couple of two?
They took off in a canoe
As luck would have it that day
The co-leader was not named Ray
But a tall lanky lad
Whom we are quite glad
Is Kris who is with us today
So now, they’ve hatched a new plan
To go across this great land
But how would they pay?
Wait I have a way!
Rina cried with a pen in her hand
The Plastino award I will write
I know the wording must be just right
The competition is keen
And the funding is lean
But I am sure my idea is quite bright
A wondrous plan she did submit
And her application for funding was picked
There were great cheers
And even a few tears
Because now her dream was legit
So why are we here today?
It is to give each of us a chance to say
Bon-Voyage, Hasta Luego or cheers
To drink a couple of beers
And give Rina and Kris a hooray
So take our advice and good cheer
That we so willingly put in your ear
And please keep in touch
Because we love you so much
And worry when not a twitter we hear
As usual we will end with a toast
You know how much we like to boast
So raise your glasses up high
As we wish you a heartfelt good-bye
As you head to the stunning west coast
